With the passage of time, the DNA molecule tends to break down. In order to preserve the DNA molecules, researchers use the process of Cryogenics.
However, this process also has its limits. When stored at -20 degrees Celsius, it is possible to preserve the DNA molecule for several months. By reducing the temperature to -80 degrees Celsius, it is possible to further enhance the life of a DNA molecule for a couple of years.
The other issue associated with the use of DNA for data storage relates to the fact that it is a tedious and slow process. Even this process is unable to remove the hurdles while randomly accessing the data stored in a DNA.
